Introduction to water kidney function:
Kidney is associated with the removal of all harmful and unwanted products specially the nitrogenous products from the body. It helps in contributing to an important process known as excretion. Kidneys are two bean shaped organs about 10cm long and 6cm wide, located on either side of the backbone and protected by the last two ribs.

Ultrafiltration
The blood passes through the glomerulus (present in the Bowman’s capsule) under great pressure which is much greater than in the capillaries elsewhere. The reason for this pressure is that the efferent (outgoing) arteriole is narrower than the afferent (incoming) arteriole, and the former again breaks up into still narrower secondary capillaries. The high pressure or the hydreostatic pressure causes the liquid part of the blood to filter out from the glomerulus into the renal tubule. This filtration under extraordinary force is called ultrafiltration. The fluid entering the renal tubule is called the glomerular filtrate. Its consists of water, urea, salts, glucose and other plasma solutes.

Selective Filtration
The glomerulat filtrate entering the renal tubule is not urine. It is an extrememly dilute solution containing a lot of usable materials including glucose and some salts such as those of sodium. As the filtrate passes down the tubule much of the water is reabsorbed together with the usable substance. But their reabsorption is only to the extrent that the normal concentration of the blood is not disturbed. Theis called selective absorption. This is called urine. The normal human urine contains 95% water, 2% urea, 0.05% uric acid and 1.5% mineral ions.
Conclusion to Water Kidney Function
Drinking enough water directly or through food helps the kidneys to function properly. About 1500 ml of water is lost as urine. So the lack of water can affect the selective filtration process making the urine look thicker.
