What is the Bladder Function
Introduction on what is the bladder function:
Under the pelvis is a muscular, hollow, balloon shaped organ called the bladder. The bladder collects the urine from the kidneys and stores it .This urine stored in the bladder is then emptied through the urethra. When the bladder is full it swells and gets a round shape. After the urine has been emptied it becomes small in size. The bladder of an adult can store up to 2 cups of urine for approximately 2 to 5 hours. what is the bladder function

Functions of the bladder :
The main function of the bladder is storage and release of urine. When it is time to empty the bladder the nerves in the bladder send out signals to the body and accordingly the person feels a strong urge to pass the urine and empty the bladder. As the bladder goes on filling and reaches its limit for storing the urine ,the urge to pass urine gets even stronger. The brain then transmits signals to the bladder muscles to tighten up and the release the urine out of the bladder. When you urinate, the brain signals the bladder muscles to tighten, squeezing urine out of the bladder.
Common bladder related to diseases and conditions :
Some of the common diseases related to the bladder and their conditions are:
• Bed wetting
• Cancer of the bladder
• Urinary incontinence
• Retention of urine
Location of the bladder :
The bladder is like a bag which is collapsible. It is located exactly behind the pubic bone, which is also known as the symphysis pubis. The bladder lies below a layer or tissue known as the Parietal Peritoneum. The Parietal Peritoneum covers only the top surface of the bladder. The walls of the bladder are made up of three different layers. Together they are known as the Detrusor Muscle. The lining of the bladder is made up of mucus membrane which is formed in to Ruage. The deep folds on the bladder are known as ruage. The bladder is stretchable and because of this it is capable of detaining urine In it. However, the capacity of the bladder to retain the urine in it varies from person to person. On an average a person cannot hold more than 250 ml of urine

Structure of the ureter :
The bottom of the bladder has three openings. From the ureters we have two openings. These two are coming from each kidney. The third opening leads to the urethra. The urethra is the tube for the urine to exit from.
Conclusion to the functions of the bladder :
If there was no bladder, urine would constantly trickle out all the time from the kidneys. This would be because the kidneys process new urine all the time. This would be not only embarrassing but very inconvenient too. Also, with no bladder the function of expelling urine would cease and could cause further complications endangering the life of a person.
